Sorry for the Delay!!!

Where do I begin!  So much has gone on since my last post! Basement finished, Minneapolis Fill The Boot, Lonsdale Community Days, Brother Beno off to college, now Brother Beno #2 on his way, and Cabin time next weekend!!!  WOW! I guess you could say we are not "boring" anymore!  So now that our basement is finished (for now) we have so much more time to enjoy the outdoors.  Work has been CRAZY! Our Minneapolis Fill the Boot is 3 days of chaos!!  It was a lot of work, but a lot of fun! We made a lot of money for MDA-now onto Telethon!!
Last weekend we went to "Lonsdale Community Days".  Mike's older brother Joel's brother-in-law's house (follow that?)  is in Lonsdale, MN.  So Jeff and Darsy invited us out for the day to run a 5k, and drinking all day long.  There is a parade, and community activities on Main Street.  I ran the 5k in 32min!! BEST TIME EVER!!!!  and drank all day long!! It was a blast.  We met some of Darsy and Andrea's friends and was invited out to a cabin for drinking about water fun!
So let me explain what the Cabin is.  My assumption of a Cabin is on of which is on a mountain and skiing is involved.  Campfires, hot chocolate, and blankets.  HERE- Cabin is a house on a lake (lakehouse) where people spend time on their boats and go fishing.  Took awhile for us to understand, but we got it now and are excited to check one out!!
Yesterday, we took David Beno to college!!!!!!!  St. Cloud Technical College is where he is attending, but actually living in the dorms of St. Cloud State University.  We moved him into his dorm and got him all situated.  We wish him the best of luck!!!  Now that we have brought David from Baraboo, WI to St. Cloud, MN; Brother Bryan has decided to move to Minneapolis from Ohio!!  It has been A LOONG TIME since all beno brothers have been together in one state.  Bryan Beno will be arriving next week.  I have heard is owns a snake, sooooo...there's going to be some issues.  All I gotta say is that snake will be living in his car!

So my final activity that I have completed was last week when I finally put together a beautiful barn window that is close to 100years old from my grandparents farm!  I sanded it , painted it white and blew up a picture from nags head I took on our honeymoon.  It is so awesome and something I will cherish forever!!!  Now I just have to find somewhere to hang it!!

You are now caught up with our minnesota life...OH one more thing.... We just found out my grandmother has lymphoma.  She is now on kemo and has 6 treatments. Just talked to her yesterday and she seems tired, but haning in there.  Please keep her in ya'lls prayers!!!

Resch Wedding and Family Fun!

Phew! What a weekend it was.  Mom, dad, and sister all were here by Friday evening.  Mom had a couple of issues getting in.  Flight being late to start with then missing her connecting flight in Atlanta.  And of course luggage was already in route and nothing to sleep in, Delta gave her a complimentary "sleep over" package including a t-shirt, brush (maybe costing them 50cents), and toothbrush/toothpaste.  Thanks Delta!  Luckily she made it here everything in tow.  Dad and Emily made it here in one piece as well on Friday.  Friday afternoon is when the weekend really started.  We went on a Mississippi River Boat Cruise with the bride and groom and all of our friends and family.  It was very cool going down the river, listening to the history around us, and finally going through the Lock!  Very fun and exciting!
Saturday was the wedding, and it was a very pretty outdoor wedding.  Beautiful deep purple, gray, and greens illuminated the ceremony area.  Being with my husband and my family at a social gathering is always a good time, and for them to be able to FINALLY come see our new home in Minneapolis was awesome.
With our basement finally completed Emily was able to feel comfortable and cozy at night time!! Now we are counting down our days... 5months until we are back in Richmond, VA- ready for some sweet tea, no traffic, and friends and family.  Ohh, Christmas cannot come soon enough!!!!!

What a week!!

Finally! Basement is one step away from being complete. This week has been a crazy week and weekend! Last Saturday Mike, his brother, uncle, and co-worker were all over here finishing up the ceiling and electrical work. Boy! We could not have done that without their help!! We now have a ceiling put in and paint on the walls!! We went with a green from Menard's called Argan Tree. We loved it at first, then thought twice about it. But, it's growing on me. We are getting the carpet put in on Tuesday, so that will be our determining factor. This basement has been our life for the past month, we will definitely treat ourselves soon.

This coming weekend is my cousin Jeff and his fiance's wedding!! My mother is coming up Wednesday and my dad and sister are coming up Thursday!!! (that is one of the reasons why we are so frantic about getting this basement up-Em needs a place to sleep!!) I can't wait to see my family- it has been way to long!
Everything else is going well for us up in the midwest! Tornados are popping up all over the place.  There was one about 30min away last night.  Since we have moved to Burnsville, we have heard about 6 Tornado sirens!!   At first Mike and I sat in our basement for about 15min, because we didn't know what to expect- now...I stand outside on our deck and watch the storm!  Otherwise weather has been in the 80's sometimes 90's, but raining  a lot.  Sometimes I feel like I moved to Seattle.
I attached some pictures of what we have done with the pant and I will put the finished product up in about a week or so. Until then-The Beno's are doing fine!

Our new-lywed beginning

So I decided to create a blog that my friends and family can check out to see whats going on with our lives out in the Midwest. Minneapolis Minnesota is where the Schweitzer/Beno Family has now laid ground. We bought our first townhouse in Burnsville. Burnville is a little outside downtown Minneapolis/St.Paul. And only about 10min. from the Mall of America.

Mike and I have been to the MOA about 4 times too much. It is fun the first time, maybe the second-but after that it gets out of control. Too many, tourists, babies, kids, lost people standing in your way crying, arguing, or trying to find which entrance they came in. Now that we have our own place we are working very hard to make it "our own". We have bought new furniture, kitchen table, and now Mike took on our basement. It was not finished when we moved in, so Mike decided to make it....yup-THE MAN CAVE. He has done such a great job! It looks amazing. I will admit that I didn't think he could do this kind of thing, but I was totally wrong. Our basement is going to be amazing when it is done. We are getting used to the 80 degree summers.  Not used to putting a jacket on at night in JULY!!  But it has been nice weather to sit outside and have dinner every night.  Together we are making an effort to finish our basement and make new friends with our neighbors.  We love the area and are lucky to have some friends around our age across the street.  So far, Minnesota has treated us very well.
